In September, Ribeira d'Ilhas received the best surfers in the world, for the EDP Billabong Pro Ericeira. Ryan Callinan was crowned champion of the competition. The only portuguese member of the WCT (World Championship Tour) world elite was, precisely, the best ranked Portuguese athlete.
