EDP and CTG conclude agreement to create a CNET R&D Centre in Lisbon

Tuesday 04, February 2014

Under the strategic partnership between EDP - Energias de Portugal, SA and China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), Cao Guangjing (the President of CTG) and António Mexia (the Chairman of the Executive Board of EDP) met today in Lisbon to discuss the document that will set up the creation of an R&D center for new energy technologies (CNET R&D Centre).

The purpose of the agreement, signed between EDP subsidiary Labelec - Estudos, Desenvolvimento e Actividades Laboratoriais, S.A., and CTG subsidiary SIDRI (Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute) is to jointly explore opportunities in three areas of common interest:
i) Cooperative research and development activities focusing on new energy technologies;
ii) Joint participation in international projects created by other organizations;
iii) Mutual technical assistance.
This Research and Development Center (CNET R&D Center) will improve the technological capacity of both companies and enhance the potential for joint business activities.
The creation of the CNET R&D Center reflects the implementation and development of the Strategic Partnership between CTG and EDP, created during the EDP privatization process in December 2011.
