The band from Maranhão disputed the final with representatives of six other Brazilian states.

Soulvenir is the winning band of the 1st edition of the EDP Live Bands Brazil, and will perform this year at the 10th edition of Nos Alive. The initiative, which promotes independent rock and pop-rock bands from all over the country, is held by EDP, Everything is New and Unibes Cultural, in partnership with Banco Caixa Geral, FNAC and Sony Music Brazil.
The first Brazilian edition of the competition, which in Portugal is now on its 3rd edition, exceeded expectations in terms of applications - more than 1,300 bands from different parts of the country showed their talent using the competition's online platform - and after two rounds of online voting and jury selection, eight representatives from the states of Ceará, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and São Paulo reached the finals to compete for the opportunity to perform at NOS Alive and to record a CD with Sony Music Brazil.
'The great interest of Brazilian bands in participating in the competition, as well as the musical quality presented in this first edition, motivates us to encourage Brazilian artists even more,' said Paulo Campos Costa, the EDP Group's Global Director of Brand Marketing and Communication.
Originality, stage presence, technical quality and musical performance were some of the criteria evaluated by the jury, composed of Paulo Campos Costa (EDP), Alvaro Covões (Everything is New), Paulo Junqueiro (Sony), Paulo Lima (FNAC) and actor Ricardo Pereira, which have elected Soulvenir the winner of the competition.

The band combines electronic rock and regional rhythms with English lyrics and its journey includes the presence in specialized media and the participation in a few nationwide festivals, such as Ponto CE (2011) and Festival DoSol (2015). The band is currently finishing its second album.
The musical event was also featured in the second edition of Experimenta Portugal, in São Paulo, an initiative promoted by the Portuguese consulate to celebrate the month of Portugal in Brazil.
EDP Live Bands Brazil also relied on the support of the General Consulate of Portugal, the Luso-Brazilian Foundation, Heineken, Lounge Magazine, Tap and Tivoli and was an initiative of the Ministry of Culture, the Government of the State of São Paulo and the Secretariat for Culture, organized by EDP and Cultural Unibes.
