EDP saves 140 tons of the artist's carbon footprint performing at EDP CoolJazz

The national energy company thus guarantees the sustainability of this festival, which takes place from July 12 to 27 in Oeiras.

EDP will offset the carbon emissions of all artists performing at EDP CoolJazz, through the fuel exchange projects 'Argibem' and 'Velotex'*, in Brazil. The carbon footprint of all these artists is equivalent to 140 tons of CO2, released as a result of travels and accommodation necessary for the artists and their teams.
This year, the EDP CoolJazz festival is an e)mission neutral certified® event. EDP financed the purchase of carbon credits, allowing for the neutralization of carbon emissions calculated by e)mission for this festival. The calculations of the carbon impact of the event considered travels and accommodation for all artists, logistics, burning fuel for generators, electricity consumption, among other sources of emissions.
To develop this initiative the EDP Group relies on the support of e)mission, an international carbon management company that helps organizations and businesses reduce their impact on the climate.
Since the very first editions of the festival, EDP has contributed to make EDP CoolJazz environmentally sustainable. Thus, the Group sponsors an entirely carbon-neutral festival.

* these two projects aim at replacing the use of non-renewable fuels and pollutants with renewable and clean fuels in ceramics and brick production plants, as well as at contributing to local development.
