The EDP Group's Corporate University received international certification by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), standing out as the first Portuguese corporate university to receive such a distinction.
Created in 2009, the corporate university streamlines the advancement of its employees, facilitates the capture and sharing of knowledge and develops the skills necessary to ensure the sustainability of its business in the 14 countries where it operates.
One of the first Corporate Universities to be established in Portugal, it has, since its inception, always stood out by innovation, currently being considered a case study both domestically and internationally. It currently has a pool of over 600 internal teachers and, in 2015, it provided over 400,000 hours of training to its employees.
The EFMD, of which the EDP University is a member since 2010, has over 800 institutional members, including corporate universities from many companies and organizations, such as business schools or training centers for executives, being the world's largest network of this kind specializing in Management Development.
The process of certifying University EDP under this international accreditation began in September 2015 and ended in May 2016, when an audit was conducted by a team of international experts from various entities (EFMD, London Business School, Santander Group, Novartis).
Congratulating EDP for this achievement, Jan Ginneberge, the chief auditor of EFMD highlighted the 'exceptional architecture of the EDP University's governance model, which maximizes the alignment between strategy and business; its excellent network of business experts, in line with the importance of knowledge retention and transfer; and the global and comprehensive integration of learning and development under one single brand, EDP University. '
According to the Director of EDP University 'this accreditation will facilitate benchmarking, mutual learning and the implementation of best practices, promoting the continuous improvement of the EDP Group's Training Management. This was a very valuable process for EDP University, as it provided an opportunity to deepen the involvement of our stakeholders through a self-reflection process, where feedback from EFMD was key.'
In 2015, through EDP University, EDP had already obtained a national certification by the Portuguese Directorate-General of Employment and Labor Relations (DGERT) in 16 fields of education and training.
