EDPCOOLJAZZ, the coolest festival, wins in the environmentally friendly category in the 2nd Iberian Festival Awards: "Best Contribution to Sustainability".

Note that EDPCOOLJAZZ was also nominated in the categories "Best Medium-Sized Festival", "Best Communication", "Best Alignment", "Best International Performance - Seal".

EDP, the Naming Sponsor of this festival, annually offsets the carbon emissions of the performance of all the artists of EDPCOOLJAZZ, through the fuel exchange projects "Argibem" and "Velotex", in Brazil. In 2016, the offsetting of the carbon footprints of all the artists was equivalent to 140 tons and covered the travel and accommodation of the artists' teams.

Since the first years of the festival, EDP has contributed to making EDPCOOLJAZZ environmentally sustainable. The Group thus sponsors an entirely carbon neutral festival.

Still on EDPCOOLJAZZ, for 2017 major artists and bands have been confirmed, including: the unmissable band "The Pretenders" (19 July, Parque dos Poetas / Oeiras Municipal Stadium); the singer and saxophonist "Maceo Parker" (20 July, Marquês de Pombal Gardens); the blues boy of the moment "Jake Bugg" (25 July, Marquês de Pombal Gardens, Oeiras); "Jamie Lidell", a master of Soul (26 July, Marquês de Pombal Gardens, Oeiras); the charismatic, versatile English musician "Jamie Cullum" (29 July, Parque dos Poetas / Oeiras Municipal Stadium).

About EDPCOOLJAZZ

EDPCOOLJAZZ is a benchmark musical event held in idyllic settings throughout July, a combination of nature, heritage and music. It was first launched in 2004 with the aim of offering a distinctive cultural and tourist event to all music lovers with eclectic tastes, always with a strong "cool" element, hence its name.

The Marquês de Pombal Gardens and the Parque dos Poetas, in Oeiras, are the stages selected for the EDPCOOLJAZZ concerts. These green spaces, representative of Portuguese landscaping, are decorated by marble busts and statues and stone walls and staircases also dressed in marble. A jewel in the crown of the district of Oeiras right in the historic centre of the town.

In addition to the concerts and the natural beauty of the spaces, EDPCOOLJAZZ participants can also enjoy Cool Pick & Go, where drinks and fine food are available to make these seven special summer nights even cooler.

Throughout these past 13 years, EDPCOOLJAZZ has organized over 130 concerts, bringing together more than 300,000 people in an intimate environment, close to the stage, without gatherings of huge crowds, with individual shows in a unique fusion of cool music, heritage and nature, the true concept of EDPCOOLJAZZ, Cool Energy.
