Wednesday 22, November 2017

The cash value will be given to the JRS - Jesuit Refugee Service, which welcomes refugee families within the scope of PAR.

EDP, Maratona Clube and TVI will donate €1 for each entry in the 60th EDP Christmas Prize to PAR - Platform for Refugee Support.

PAR is a platform consisting of Portuguese civil society organisations and provides support to refugees in the current humanitarian crisis. JRS - the Jesuit Refugee Service is one of the associations in PAR. The amount raised will be used for the reception of refugee families, under the PAR Families programme.

Consistent with its spirit of social solidarity and support, EDP is taking part in this race on 10 December in Lisbon, for the 3rd consecutive year, transforming this sports festival into a moment of support for those who need it most .

This activity is part of the national energy social responsibility strategy. The EDP Foundation has the largest private investment programme in solidarity at a national level - EDP Solidária. This programme, created in 2004, aims to support projects that promote the improvement of the quality of life of people and communities in vulnerable situations or at risk of social exclusion, with an annual support of 2.1 million euros.

EDP, Maratona Clube and TVI call on all citizens to take part in this event in order to contribute to this great cause supporting national solidarity.

For citizens who still want to sign up for the race, they can do so through the D.FY app - an EDP running application that allows users to create their own circuits, monitor races and train with a virtual PT.

After registering in the application, users will have an individual area and a group area, where they can "compete" with their friends or other groups that are also registered. The application stores your training history and provides statistical information such as distance travelled, time, and average pace. Users can also access information on events supported by EDP in Portugal and sign up for free at some of these sporting events.

EDP has been supporting athletics for more than 20 years, and this event strengthens its position as the Official Energy of Sports, promoting this sports activity and healthy life habits.
