In a rapidly accelerating market, EDP has just closed two partnerships with two major companies, which will expand the range of electric mobility options available to customers.

SL Benfica has chosen EDP Comercial to offer fans, visitors and employees the possibility of charging their electric vehicles: 20 charging stations will be deployed between the club's stadium in Lisbon and its training complex in Seixal. In the vicinity of Estádio da Luz there will be an ultra-fast charging station - EDP's first - which is three times faster than the so-called fast-charging stations These charging stations will be connected to the MOBI.E public network in early 2020 and can be used by any electric vehicle user.

The locations are perfect for those who visit SL Benfica's facilities and the various stores in the vicinity of the stadium. Fans and the general public will find their dedicated charging stations at Estádio da Luz's P1, P5 and P8 car parks. Club employees and athletes will be able to charge their electric vehicles at car parks P2 and P3.

SL Benfica thus takes another decisive step in its energy transition process, which began with the deployment of 1,200 EDP Comercial solar panels at the club's training complex. The photovoltaic plant is self-sufficient, which saves the club about €52,000 in electricity bills every year.

This electric mobility agreement kicks off a new partnership between EDP and SL Benfica, which in the future could also translate into benefits for club fans. 
"Today, with this partnership with SL Benfica, and by bringing electric mobility to the thousands of visitors of Estádio da Luz, we are taking a further step to expand the public charging network. It is through partnerships like this that we want to meet the ambitious goal of having 300 charging stations on the public network by the end of next year, giving a clear signal to anyone who wants to embark on the electric mobility journey: EDP is meeting the needs of those who, like us, believe in the urgency of opting for more sustainable options", says EDP Comercial CEO Vera Pinto Pereira.

Developing solutions for company fleets with BP

This partnership was announced today by the CEO of EDP Comercial at Portugal Mobi Summit, the country's largest sustainable mobility summit. EDP is already deploying the 30 charging stations set out in its partnership agreement with BP. The two companies have now decided to deepen this partnership in order to streamline the transition of business fleets to electric vehicles, and will soon launch the first card for hybrid business fleets (internal combustion vehicles and electric vehicles).
The card will bring together the benefits provided by BP Plus cards and the EDP Electric Mobility card. 

As a trader of electricity for electric vehicles, EDP Comercial has already issued about 12,000 cards, which translates into over 350MWh charged at the company's stations since EV users started paying to use the public network in November 2018.
