EDP organizes its first jobs fair

Monday 30, October 2017

Nine EDP group companies will publicize their job projects and opportunities to 200 students at the EDP Open Day 2017. The Group has already recruited 700 people this year.

In a pioneering initiative, tomorrow EDP is organizing its first jobs fair for university students. EDP Open Day 2017 will feature nine EDP group companies who will reveal their job projects and opportunities to around 200 students.

In the last decade, EDP has been actively involved in talent attraction and recruitment, but the group has decided that it should intensify this focus further. It has therefore decided to arrange its own job fair, with the participation of students from leading universities in Portugal.

In addition to its ground-breaking format and pioneering character, EDP Open Day 2017 aims to make the group known and facilitate the identification of talent, to consolidate its attractiveness strategy for next year. The event will take place at the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT), from 10:00 to 17:30.

EDP Open Day 2017 will offer students the opportunity to contact the group's companies: EDP SA, EDP Comercial, EDP Inovação, EDP Produção, EDP Distribuição, EDP Valor, EDP Soluções Comerciais, EDP Renováveis and Labelec. In addition to their own space at the event, each of these companies will organize a workshop that students can attend. Cybersecurity, offshore projects, sustainability and the future of the energy customer will be among the themes addressed in the workshops.

The students will also have the opportunity to take part in speed meeting and networking sessions with managers from each of the EDP group companies, to improve their understanding of the business value chain and assess the recruitment outlook.  For the companies, this will be a significant occasion for the identification of potential employees.

The event will also be attended by Linkedin to present labour market trends and job search tools, including social networks. The multinational, which has become one of the most important global recruitment platforms, will also have its own space at EDP Open Day 2017.

Attracting and retaining talent, enhanced by the natural process of generational turnover, is a priority for the EDP group, which by this year’s 3rd quarter has already recruited 700 new employees.  This will be a year of growth, considering 700 people were recruited throughout all of 2016.
