Investigation on the termination process of the Energy Acquisition Agreements

Friday 02, June 2017

The head office of EDP received a visit from the Prosecutor-General of the DCIAP (Central Department for Investigation and Penal Action), along with various inspectors from the Judicial Police. This visit is part of an investigation resulting from an anonymous tip, regarding material related to Contracts for the Acquisition of Energy (CAE) and their replacement with a regime of Costs for the maintenance of contractual equilibrium (CMECs) - started in the year 2004 - and is aimed at obtaining documents related to these procedures.

The Board of EDP gave specific and very clear instructions to the effect that the investigators should be given unrestricted access to all information and full collaboration in order to establish the facts.

The EDP representatives who, to date, have signed the contracts with regard to this subject have been named as suspects.

EDP shall remain available to the authorities to provide any information deemed relevant.
