Winning band will perform at NOS Alive and Mad Cool Festival in Madrid

EDP is looking for talented musicians who are ready to shine on major festival stages. The 4th edition of the competition began yesterday, 6 February, and all "garage" bands, covering all musical areas, can apply. It takes talent and determination to rise to the level of two major world festivals: NOS Alive and the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid. In addition to their première at these events, the winners will also be entitled to record their first album with Sony Music.

This competition is a winner from EDP, which has been strengthening its position in the music area through the sponsorship of various events. The launch of the 4th edition of EDP Live Bands in Portugal takes place one week before the launch of the competition in Brazil, which will be in its 2nd edition. The Brazilian edition also surpassed all expectations with over 1400 bands registering. Since its launch, EDP Live Bands has launched three bands who have performed at NOS Alive and have seen their work released by Sony.

For the fourth consecutive year, the project is supported by Everything is New and Sony and in the edition that is now starting, FNAC, Sábado magazine, RTP and Antena 3 also feature as partners of EDP ve Bands. These new partners, in addition to contributing to the selection of the winning band, will also support it after the competition, by releasing their music.

EDP Live Bands in Portugal has already had more than 950 participating bands and it intends to discover even more hidden talent to launch on to the great stages. Once registered, the emerging bands undergo two phases of selection by the public and the competition jury. The grand finale will be on 19 May at the LX Factory, and the eight best bands will be taking part.

This edition is also launching EDP Live Bands' new communication concept that is inspired by the well-known expression "walls have ears", by alerting all bands that, contrary to what they say, garage walls don't have ears. So if your band wants to aim higher, you have to make the leap from the garage to the stage.
