SMEs are now covered by EDP's Save to Compete, which promotes company competitiveness

The Save to Compete (S2C) programme, created by EDP in 2012, seeks to promote the competitiveness of companies in Portugal and Spain through the implementation of energy efficiency solutions. In the last 5 years the programme has enabled participating companies to make savings of 18 million euros.

Under the Save to Compete model, every energy efficiency project is paid for with part of the savings generated over time, without the beneficiary company needing to invest directly - thus avoiding the need to use financial resources they need to grow their business.

This year, Save to Compete is introducing a number of novelties, to be presented today at its 5th anniversary celebration. The programme will now include a deal for SMEs and will be accessible through an innovative digital platform providing simple, fast and free participation in the programme for companies.

Companies using the Save to Compete platform are provided with specific energy efficiency proposals tailored to each customer and  their savings potential.

This new tool makes access to energy efficiency as easy as shopping online.

If the project investment is in excess of 250,000 euros the companies can gain access to a funding scheme in partnership with ECS Capital, a market leader in private equity.

Energy efficiency is already one of EDP's key priorities, with investment in a wide range of products and services to enable companies and private customers to make energy savings, such as solutions in solar energy, electric mobility and the edp re:dy energy consumption monitoring system.
