The group was distinguished by the Ethisphere Institute for its management practices and consistent business ethics policy for the 11th year running. EDP is the only Portuguese company on the list, which includes a total of 136 companies.

EDP was once again recognized as one of the most ethical companies in the world by the Ethisphere Institute. It is now the 11th consecutive year that the group has been distinguished for its management practices and consistent business ethics policy. In total, 136 companies were highlighted globally and EDP is the only Portuguese company on the list.

This distinction recognizes the group’s commitment, in all the geographies where it is present, with a solid and unequivocal policy of ethics that is today a pillar of EDP's business and reputation. This commitment is based on principles such as the promotion of relationships of trust with all its stakeholders, acting with integrity in all areas of intervention, the role of responsible protagonist in the changes that the energy sector is going through and in contributing to an environment that ensures a sustainable future for all.

EDP's commitment to ethics is based on a number of mainstays, including the Code of Ethics - a guiding document drawn up in 2005 which brings together the most important guidelines and best practices to be followed in the company. The company also has an Ethics Ombudswoman and a number of ethics committees whose mission is to consolidate its staff's good conduct and its reputation.

Recognized worldwide for its work in this area, the Ethisphere Institute this year distinguished companies from 45 industries and 22 countries, with EDP being one of the nine highlighted in the Energy & Utilities sector. The assessment is carried out using a model that takes into account the maturity and performance of management systems in terms of ethics and compliance, based on indicators such as culture, environment and social practices, governance or diversity, for example.

“Today, business leaders face their greatest mandate yet to be ethical, accountable, and trusted to drive positive change,” said Ethisphere CEO, Timothy Erblich. “We continue to be inspired by the World’s Most Ethical Companies honorees and their dedication to integrity, sustainability, governance, and community. Congratulations to EDP for earning the World’s Most Ethical Companies designation.”
