EDP is a partner of the world's oldest organization for entrepreneurship education: Junior Achievement (JA), which is a 100-year-old organization.

This organization has been doing a tireless job of bringing the school world and the work world together and inspires and empowers young entrepreneurs with the fundamental skills to develop a culture of individual responsibility.

Since Junior Achievement already has a long history, its partnership with EDP already has 15 years under its belt. It has been a path of collaboration, sharing, and mutual help that has produced excellent results. This partnership is an example of the strong commitment the company has made in the area of volunteering, especially in skills volunteering.

All in all, more than 570 EDP volunteers have already participated in JA volunteer projects, leaving their comfort zone and going to schools to share their knowledge and experience with youngsters, or receiving students at their work, sharing their reality with them.

“When I started this volunteer work, I thought the basis was giving and sharing. However, I found that I often feel that I bring more home than I left at school.”
Miguel Lagarto, EDP Volunteer

At EDP, we believe volunteering develops our people and multiplies the purpose and meaning of what we do. People's talents and skills actively contribute to the development and transformation of the communities where we operate.

“EDP is the model partner for any impact organization, for a simple reason that comes down to one word: commitment. Putting the company's core business key competencies towards creating a positive impact on society, particularly with the partnership with JAP regarding education and young people, requires dedication, long-term vision, and an understanding of what it means to create an impact. EDP has all these ingredients. It is the perfect recipe. One of those old recipes that never go out of style.”
Frederico Fezas Vital, Junior Achievement Portugal CEO

A centenary full of energy

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Junior Achievement launched the “100 Leaders 4 a Day” project and challenged students to follow a leader's workday. Lino and Adrien were the right arm of Rui Teixeira, the EDP Manager, for one day. Let us see how it went.
