EDP to be listed in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality index

Wednesday 27, January 2021

The group's commitment to equal job opportunities has been recognized on a global scale

EDP is one of the few companies that have been listed in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index, a benchmark that selects the companies that best promote gender equality around the world.

The fact that EDP has been chosen to join this select group is a recognition of the company's efforts to promote equal job opportunities through development, representation and transparency policies.

The index is based on quantitative and qualitative reports focusing on 59 issues that are organized into five parameters: female leadership and talent promotion, inclusive culture, wage equality, policies for tackling labor harassment, and women's appreciation campaigns. Only companies whose score equals or exceeds the global value are listed on this index.

In addition to EDP Group, EDP Renováveis has also earned a prominent place in Bloomberg's index - for the second year in a row. EDP is thus one of the 380 companies with the greatest transparency with regard to gender equality and promoting women's equality around the world. This edition includes organizations from 11 sectors and 44 countries. The overall results of the companies listed in this index show their commitment to gender balance and representativeness, whether in management/leadership positions or in areas related to profits and losses; the commitment to promoting an inclusive culture and an inclusive workplace environment, whether by implementing fair pay practices, by conducting organizational environment surveys, or by providing training on unconscious biases and adopting community-focused measures.

"I believe that an inclusive workplace, with diversity of thought and talent, is key to our ability to continue to innovate - this is how we intend to lead the transition to a greener and more sustainable future for everyone," says Miguel Stilwell de Andrade, CEO of EDP.
