Friday 13, May 2016

EDP is the company in which the readers of Human Resources magazine would like to work the most. The 2015 edition of the awards organized by this publication, which specializes in the management of human resources, also gave the Best Chairman/CEO Award to António Mexia. The manager got the highest number of votes on the question about the business leader under whom voters would like to work the most. A choice that has been repeated for the 5th consecutive year.
The winners of the 17 categories were chosen by public vote, after a preliminary selection made by the magazine Editorial Board. EDP also won in two other categories: Mobility and Internal Communication. The 1st award recognizes the merits of the Switch program, as emphasized yesterday by the Group's head of Human Resources, Paula Carneiro, at the award ceremony. Geographic, functional, intra- and inter-business mobility is 'the leading tool for professional and personal development,' said the manager.
Paulo Campos Costa, the EDP Group's Global Director of Brand Marketing and Communication, in turn, highlighted the importance of giving priority to internal communication at EDP, whose 12,000 employees, from over 30 nationalities, are spread over 14 countries. TV, radio, intranet, magazines, newsletters, events make up the set of tools put at the service of a communication strategy, which, according to the manager, lies on a basic principle: 'internal and external communication are inextricably linked.'
Before an audience composed of representatives from some of the most reputable Portuguese companies, António Mexia closed the event, noting that 'people are the key to institutional quality.' It is up to the management to 'reunite the best people, the appropriate financial resources and the best ideas' and to transform the complexity of the formula and skills into results.
