EDP innovates at the service of its customers and launches interactive billing

Monday 10, April 2017

Customers can browse their invoices from any devices, send readings, receive alerts and resolve any questions quickly.

Today EDP is launching a new interactive electronic invoice which can be accessed on all fixed and mobile devices. Customers will find navigation more intuitive, with graphic information in clickable summary form, with detailed access to all invoice components.

The company is therefore launching a pioneering new form of customer relationship, in a sector in which the invoice is a key point of contact. It also responds to one of EDP's strategic commitments: to increase its proximity to its customers through simpler, clearer communication.

With the new interactive electronic invoice, the customers of EDP Comercial - an EDP Group company in the liberalized market - will be able to browse the invoice as though it were a website, access their consumption, send readings and add alerts to their calendar. It will also be possible to link to edponline and the new FAQ area to manage the service or ask any questions. Energy efficiency campaigns and tips will also be made available.

The new invoice will be sent to customers who already receive electronic invoices, in PDF format by email, with an explanation of the new functionalities available.  All customers who are still using paper invoicing can now access a demonstration and register for the interactive electronic invoice at www.energia.edp.pt.

This initiative takes EDP another step closer to one of its strategic objectives, to provide excellent service to its customers. As early as 2012, the company decided to redesign the invoice to make it easier to read and, in October last year, it launched the "Clear Invoice", which is more intuitive, with a new layout, relevant content and information to educate customers about energy efficiency. Since 2012, EDP has invested more than 40 million euros in the development of its commercial systems and support channels.

This innovation is accompanied by the launch of an advertising campaign that, like the new EDP invoice, will be based on interactivity, through a video posted on YouTube challenging users to choose alternative endings for a film mainly directed at digital customers.

In the film, a couple throwing a party are asking for help to get rid of the last two guests. "Please help us get them out of our house" - this is the motto for users to explore each object in the room to provide a different ending to the story.

The campaign, which starts today in digital form, in the press and on the radio and will run for three weeks, involved three agencies: MTSF Partners (creativity), MEC (media) and Grand Union (digital).

The communication strategy also includes a special initiative with Rádio Comercial, in which listeners will have an opportunity for even closer interaction with the couple, by suggesting their own endings to the story.  The winning idea will be portrayed in a radio soap opera whose cast will be the Rádio Comercial announcers.
