Wednesday 10, April 2013

EDP Renewables has been ranked #1 utility company worldwide in the FTSE4Good Index. The FTSE4Good is a stock market index that aggregates top performing companies for their sustainability and corporate social responsibility practices.

EDPR joined the FTSE4Good index in the September 2011 review, and since then has renewed its position every 6 months, finally reaching the top of the Utilities supersector in the March 2013 review.
FTSE4Good is one of the most important indexes in the world of Sustainability. Throughout the evaluation process, more than 2,300 companies are considered and less than 50% are included in the index. The evaluation takes into account the impact/risk that a company may have for each of the six criteria in environmental, social and governance areas.
EDPR received the highest ranking in the “Climate Change” and “Environmental Management” categories and thus, an overall high ranking for the environmental area. EDPR also received the highest ranking in the “Countering Bribery” category, a category considered high risk for EDPR since it is an Electric Utility, a high risk sector that operates in countries with a perceived risk of exposure to bribery as well as involved in government/public contracts.
This achievement reflects the company´s deep commitment to sustainability. It sets new goals for EDPR to continue implementing the best practices and evolving with a sector that is constantly improving.
