EDP SU offers 80,000 smart outlets that help to save energy
The outlets can be ordered free of charge from the EDP Universal Service website. The measure is part of the company's energy efficiency initiatives and is being promoted for the third time.
EDP SU is offering 80,000 smart outlets to residential electricity consumers, regardless of their energy provider, in order to promote the energy efficiency of the Portuguese people and the conscious use of electricity. With a simple gesture, every time the main equipment is switched off, such as a TV, the smart outlet automatically shuts down the secondary devices, eliminating their consumption in standby.
In this way, families can save up to € 44 a year on electricity bills per year, just by turning off the equipment that is kept inactive daily. Consumers will also be avoiding the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by reducing energy waste. With this initiative, the company wants to contribute to the adoption of behaviors that reduce the monthly energy bill and fight climate change.
The outlets will be sent to all the districts of Continental Portugal for free, for consumers who did not participate in previous campaigns on a per order basis. The orders can be made on the EDP SU website.
This offer is part of the National Action Plan on Energy Efficiency (NAPE), approved and supported by the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE), and to which EDP SU has joined to help improve practices related to the consumption of electricity. This is the third time the company has implemented this measure, having already distributed 170 thousand smart plugs throughout the country in previous editions.
The smart plug can be ordered here: www.edpsu.pt.
