EDP was once again distinguished by its policy of promoting gender equality and professional opportunities between men and women – a work that led the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index to select EDP for the second year in a row for a list that includes 418 companies from 45 countries and 11 sectors of activity – among utilities, 38 companies have been recognized worldwide.

EDP's recognition for this benchmark – which selects the listed companies most involved in the development of gender parity in the world – thus enhances its good development, representation and transparency practices. EDP Renováveis was also selected for the third consecutive year to be part of the Bloomberg index, thus reflecting the group's commitment to diversity on a global scale.

With the ambition to increase female representation to at least 30% by 2025, the EDP group has developed a series of initiatives aimed at contributing to gender balance in the labour market. An example of this is the recent global #REBELSFORCHANGE campaign, launched with the aim of raising awareness of the need for greater participation of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers (STEM careers in the Acronym in English) and, at the same time, attract more young people to these areas, including in EDP itself.

"We are proud to recognize EDP and the other 417 companies included in the 2022 GEI for their commitment to transparency and setting a new standard in gender-related data reporting", said Peter T. Grauer, chairman of Bloomberg and founding chairman of the U.S. 30% Club. In a year in which more companies have participated in the assessment, the executive sees this increase as a sign that more companies are working to improve upon their gender-related practices and metrics, fostering more opportunity for diverse talent to succeed in their organizations.

In this year's edition, the Bloomberg Gender Equality index evaluated more than 550 companies according to their policy and performance in five strands: female leadership and talent promotion, equal pay, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies and women's empowerment initiatives. The final selection of 418 companies – which include for the first time organizations from Colombia and Uruguay – includes seven companies in Portugal.
